Pearse Road

The concept of boulevards, as part of the regeneration strategy for Letterkenny Town Centre, will transform the urban environment into a more desirable place to walk and cycle.

Pearse Road today dissects between the historic town centre and the newer retail areas. In its current form, it is heavily trafficked and wide with few designated pedestrian crossing points. As a result, it is an enormous barrier to accessibility between Main Street and the retail parks.

Re-imagining Pearse Road and shifting the focus from vehicles to people will help invigorate this important town centre street. Humanising the route will allow people to move easily between Main Street and the retail area and will begin to restitch the old and new back together.
