LK Green Connect & Urban Wetlands

The concept of an urban wetland with integrated LK Green Connect walking and cycling infrastructure as part of the regeneration strategy for Letterkenny Town Centre, recognises the multiple benefits and functions that can come from using land for flood risk mitigation, tourism, recreation, accessibility and wildlife purposes.

Transforming underused land, with nature as a key driver, will create a new destination while also underpinning economic prosperity, health and well-being. The creation of a multi-functional green and blue space accessible through a network of pathways will help create a town centre that works in balance with nature, rather than against it, addressing the challenges that climate change pose.
