Lower Main Street

Breathing new life and regenerating sites along Lower Main Street, as part of the regeneration strategy for Letterkenny Town Centre, will transform the urban environment into a more desirable place, encouraging people to live and spend more time in the town centre.

Historically, Lower Main Street was a diverse part of the town providing services and commercial activity including the Corn Market, the bakery, Garda Station, all within a thriving community.

Today, there is visible vacancy and dereliction, few residents and no public space resulting in a low quality environment.

To create a shift in perceptions and attract people back into the area, Lower Main Street needs to be integrated into the town centre with a renewed sense of civic pride through diverse use and high quality public realm.
