Main Street

Breathing new life and rebalancing pedestrian and vehicular space along Main Street, as part of the regeneration strategy for Letterkenny Town Centre, will transform the urban environment into a more desirable place, encouraging people to spend more time in the town centre.

The design of the public realm can have a significant impact on how the space is used, who uses it and also how frequently. Shifting the focus from vehicles to people will help energise the important historic core of the town centre, creating an environment where daily life, social interaction, shopping and events can all take place.

Main Street is the historic core of Letterkenny. Its survival as a vibrant, thriving and attractive place is a critical foundation for the successful regeneration of the Regional Centre.
